answering your must-know questions before you reserve your dog’s spot at Dream Dog

when can I book?

Booking is available 24/7 via your client portal, which can be accessed on the computer or on the Gingr for Pet Parents app! We strongly recommend booking your dog’s daycare dates in advance to ensure the reservation request will be accepted.

For recurring bookings weekly, please discuss with our team and we’ll be happy to schedule your dog in for regular visits.

what about overnight care?

We offer overnight care via our combined daycare/pet sitting service, which can be found here: www.dreamdog.ca/overnight

why only small dogs?

Small dogs have unique needs & care requirements that are not always fulfilled in dog daycares that cater to all sizes. We recognize a need to cater to the safety requirements of smaller breeds.

If you have any questions about whether your dog would be suitable, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to assist you in creating a care plan that works best for you and your dog.

where do the dogs…use the bathroom?

An artificial turf system allows for a designated bathroom area for small dogs in our indoor play facility. It is highly sanitary, & easy for our team to frequently clean throughout the day. Solid dog waste gets picked up and disposed of, and then the turf gets cleaned and washed down.

We also have an option called “relief break”, whereby an Animal Care Team Member can toilet your dog outside between 11:00am-2:00pm. Relief breaks are charged at $5 +hst as an add-on service.

Does the indoor turf affect my dog’s housebreaking habits?

Similar to most other dog daycares which use artificial turf, we designates a patch of “Grass” for housebreaking habits. Dogs are smart enough to understand different potty habits in different locations. It will be the actual place itself that they associate with their potty spot while at daycare, rather than the fact that they are indoors. Unless you have artificial turf in your home, your dog’s housebreaking should not be affected.

what does my dog need to be safe at dream dog?

  • Your dog should be over 16 weeks of age

  • Spayed/Neutered (if at least 6 months)

  • Up to date on core vaccinations (DA2PP, Rabies, Bordetella)

  • Flea and tick free

  • Regular quick release collar without dog tags

  • Social with dogs and people

my dog has never been to daycare before

At Dream Dog, we complete an intake assessment with you and your dog to ensure it is the right fit on their first day.

We have an active play area, for pups who love to get the lead out and burn off energy, and a cozy areas throughout the daycare for pups that prefer to spend their day relaxing comfortably!

We are transparent about whether we feel your dog is a good fit for Dream Dog. Some pups may prefer a larger space with outdoor access, and some might prefer an individual one-on-one dog walk with a dog-walker from home. We have partnerships with other dog daycares and local pet services and can provide appropriate recommendations for you and your dog!
