Step One: Fill out the application

step two: virtual or in-person home visit
If your application is selected as a potential perfect match for a Dream Dog, you will be contacted by our team to schedule a virtual or in-person home visit.
Your entire household MUST be present for the home visit & you must be prepared to tour each room and any outdoor space.
Step three: reference check
Once you pass the home visit, we will call two personal references and one veterinary reference.
Please call your vet ahead of time to give them permission to speak to Dream Dog regarding your animal’s health history.
Step four: begin the trial adoption period
All Dream Dog adoptions are subject to a 3 week trial period to allow your Dream Dog to decompress in their new environment.
Please ensure you are able to commit to the full 3 week trial period, to allow your Dream Dog’s personality to start to shine before making a final decision on whether they are right for your household.
step five: officially adopt your dream dog
After the 3 week trial adoption period is over, you make the decision to officially adopt your new Dream Dog!
Sign our adoption contract and pay the final adoption fee.
Each Dream Dog will go home with a special daycare/grooming/retail package, courtesy of Dream Dog Bedford & our partners in care.
The fine print
Fees & Expected Costs
Adoption Fee: $400 +hst.
A deposit of $150 is required upon selection of your household as a potential family before the trial adoption period begins.
A new dog in the home can cost between $400-$4000 annually, between food, treats, toys, accessories, bedding, pet care while you’re at work and/or away on vacation, veterinary bills, etc. Please ensure that you are financially ready to welcome your Dream Dog home.
Rehoming
Upon the decision not to continue to care for your Dream Dog, regardless of the reason, at any time throughout your dog’s life (including after your dog has been officially adopted), you MUST contact Dream Dog representatives immediately and return the dog to us. There is ZERO judgement - we simply want what’s best for you and the dog.
